switch to longtubes?

Yes, its worth it. You should see around 15-20 rwhp and similar torque gains throughout the powerband. Do a search on them, youll find a plethora of info about em. Brand is kinda preference. Certain ones have pro's/cons. BBK would go on my car if I was doing it, but you have to pull the header on the pass. side if you ever want to change your clutch, so Id recommend doing the clutch while you are installing the headers.

ive been researching it alot lately, and imo i dont think its worth it if your situation is anything like mine. to pass inspection you need some sort of cats, with that said, lts with o/r exhaust and catback would be too loud for me on the highway and wouldnt pass. soo..what i would do is bbk ceramic lts and bbk high flow h pipe.. which total is roughly 850, plus a PITA to install, or about 500 to have somebody else do it. what im acctually doing is shorties and gonna install them myself.. 270 bux brand new bbk. so the difference in a lt setup and shorty is roughly 10-15 rwhp rwhp, and over a 1000 dollars is not worth even 15 rwhp and some torque to me (id have the lt's installed by somebody). AND thats not even getting into scraping, stud, or clutch/trans removal problems! good luck with your decision.

are you going to be dropping the kmember to install your shorties? if so, just do longtubes. its the same damn thing really, and its not even that hard. more tedious than anything else really.

and the lts will give you gains throughout the entire powerband not just peak. I've read that shorties may only give you 1-2 peak, not sure about the powerband though.

yes.. you are right with the install part.. but i think the green + hassles and inspection are points that no matter what shorties do, you cant argue. plus, shortys are not 100% useless, they HAVE to do something, im not saying its alot, but just being it that each exhuast port with shorties has its own pipe to breathe through must improve flow somewhat compare to manifolds.

I dont know where you are from but I got a quote from Exoitc Performance Plus just outside of Ft Wayne, IN for $350 to install long tubes. I bought the ceramic coated BBK LTs for $499 and got a used catted H pipe from Brothers Performacne for $200. So total its about 1K for the whole setup installed.

Performance costs so you gotta pay to play.

i know that bro.. just look at the sig. i think my new (vortech mongoose kit) dreams will satify my performance wants pretty good. and the # i threw out was an avg from other posts on stangnet, my mustang guy charges only 50 an hour, so im sure it would be less.. prob around 350 also. the NEW i shoud say..catted h is 150 more than the pipe u bought too, so put that in the mix as well. id consider it only if i found some good used stuff, cause i really do want longtubes.

Wow, I was told $900 for the install, which is why I've avoided it. Maybe time to find a new shop...

If you can install shortie, then installing LT is no different then installing Shortie!

And what shortie that is commercialy available for our car that is good for 10 to 15RWHP gain????
And if you wanna save yourself some money, buy O/R H, then buy magnaflow cats for $35 each(Love E-bay sometimes), and start hacking your H! Thats how i got my catted shortie H for less then $250, and my car pass inspection with flying colors
My ceramic coated LT was $350(Some poor bastard totalled his car day before car is due for install).

If you look hard enough, there is always the deals. U just have to look around man...
I mean I have LT and shorties, because i looked and found deal. otherwise, no way i's pay as much as they ask for them. But also knows for sure that i would NOT get shorties, and spend exact same amount of time, and get same HP gain that i could have had with CAI...

I was referring to the difference! lets say 5 rwhp from shorties, and 15-20 rwhp from lts.. 15 ish rwhp is the difference.

your ideas on getting a cheap setup will def. get me looking, i just gotta hope something pops up i guess
