Just wondering if anyone has seen a switchblade style key, transponder and remote for our cars.

It would be really nice to have a key that flips in like the MB, BMW and even VWs have.

If thats not possible would it be possible to use a blank zephyr/fusion key and remote on a mustang. Are the blanks and transponders much different?

Matt

I've always thought the same thing. It may be a minor detail, but the Mustang key and remote is very boring.

Go to your local Ford dealer (with both your Mustang Keys) and ask them program a Fusion key to work on your Mustang.

Let us know if it works.

the chips are the same in the new keys, but you are looking at probably $100 per key.. dealer cost on them is approx 75-80 each.. not too many dealers carry them yet. so to answer the question, the keys will work with our mustangs

For your wallets sake, dodn't pay the dealer to program the key for you. The procedure is in your owners manual and is very easy. You do need TWO keys that are already programed but if you have those it's easy. Just buy the key and have it cut by the dealer and program it yourself.

I must admit, the new key fob for the bimmers is sweet. It's all electronic, so there's no turning the ignition. No key for that matter, just a computer chip in the key fob that the ignition reads.

here is a 9 page thread from brad's site where they pretty much decide it won't work. So I guess I'll have to talk with someone who has a functioning model before I get excited. That said, I'd pay $100 for one!

We just got our shipment of fusion keys in today so I"ll be purchasing one and programming it tonight, and I"ll let you all know for sure if they work or not. I"m 99% sure they will since these were on backorder forever and ford was telling us to use the standard chip key from our mustangs to use on the fusions until they were off backorder

The key programs, but the remote part of the key does not.

isn't there a way to remove the internals of your existing key fob and put them on the fusion key

the electronic part for the remote is molded into the key I'm going to ask a technician to see if they can hook up the computer to it to try to program it that way see if the car even recognizes the signal coming from it.
