My 84 Turbo bird motor has the old 4 in a row intake.

Is there much of a power gain by going to a E6 upper and lower?

How much of my present stuff will transfer over parts wise? like throttle body, injectors, etc.

Im planning on a posted and polished head and a stock t3 at 18-20lbs boost and 42lb hr injectors.

I'm not sure on the power gain, someone once said it helps power band to get up to 6k. Then someone said they could get that with the inline intakes so who knows.

The one thing that I would worry about is I heard you need to drill a new hole in your head for the new style intakes to bolt on. They got a extra hole of some sort than the ole inline intakes. If someone can verifie this I would be really happy and where you drill at. As for swaping out I know you will need the EGR tube from the EGR to the exhaust mainifold. (I'm not sure on the valve its self). Now if your going to the bigger injectors like 35#s I think you need the newer fuel rail from like a 87-88' TC.The trottle body should bolt right up unless you use a 5.0L, again double check that also.

I hope this helps you some and let me know how it goes because I'm about to do it my self, but I'm just using 35#s

The "square" intake could support higher-revving setups by gutting it out. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Yes, it's completely true. It's the main reason I haven't finished my swap.

Go with the 88' TC head and intakes then. That way the intakes will bolt right up and save a hair of machine work fitting them. Also the 88' TC intakes has the ACT so if you use a LA3 or other ECM that uses a ACT sensor you will agian save machine work and be ahead of the game (and me lol). If you use the 88' TC intakes don't forget to get the TC's fuel rail and EGR tube.

Good luck and let me know how it goes, I hope to do this swap soon my self.

Hey thanks.

Its been a little while since I researched it so I was hopeing I was telling him right. I hear a machine shop can make the extra hole for the square intakes so I need to take them my intakes and let them get it done with the rest of the work.

Good luck on your swap also.

Part two.

Is there a difference between a 86 or later EFI intake from a turbo motor and a 86 or later intake from a n/a motor.

I understand the turbo intakes have larger injectors but do I have to find a turbo motor intake or can I grab any 87 or later 2.3L EFI intake?

Cool thank you. My local yard has a plethora of 2.3L EFI intakes.
