Guys I was wanting to know what is a symptom of a bad VSS sensor? Last time I pulled my sensor out of the rear end the metal part on the sensor was pretty shaved down it seemed, almost like it had alot of wear and tear on it. A bad VSS would throw a code right?

It serves no purpose on our cars unless you're data-logging the input or something.

But it provides a GREAT place to tap the wires for an electric speedo!

The VSS sensor provides a signal for the cruse control. It is also used by the computer to increase idle speed as you slow to a stop to prevent stalling. A defective VSS sensor may set code 27 or 29.

Okay would someone show me a picture of the metal tab on the VSS sensor, I think mine looks really worn out and was wondering how much meat there should be on this metal tab for my VSS sensor?

The only thing the metal tab does is provide a provision to bolt it down to the transmission with, correct?

I actually had to trim mine (auto-zone replacement) to make it bolt flush....

sorry, no picture.
