it already has mobilie 1 synthetic for both.. I went with royal purple after I welded my axle tubes a couple weeks ago. run conventional oil for 100,000 miles and then take the intake assembly off the motor.. then compare with synthetic after 100,000 miles. Let us know which looks clean. Not necessarily better for tranny (especially tremec) or rear end, but for the motor I don't think there are any arguments against the statement that synthetic's characteristics are better.GT JAY said:Personally, I'm NOT sold on the whole Synthetic is better than conventional oil thing. Read the bottle, it says "Synthetic 5w-20... Amsoil, the first in synthetics." If it was synthetic blend, it would say synthetic blend on it like the motorcraft stuff. GT JAY said:My dad's uncle has a 64 Dodge Polara 383 4bbl with over 350,000 miles on it. He's the origional owner. Other than 3 Valve jobs, the rest of the engine has NEVER BEEN APART! He's only ever used straight 30w in it from day 1. I'd say that's proof in itself right there. Yes new engines may be a little different than the ones built a while back, but as long as you change your oil religiously ever 3,000 miles like he does, you should be o.k. WITHOUT SYNTHETICS!
I'll stick with 5w20 Valvoline myself.

Plus I can go 5 or 6000 miles between oil changes with synthetic, almost twice that of old dino oil....
I have an original 239 y-block in my 54 f-100 and it only saw dino oil, but then again, the inside is riddled with gunk.....even though it still runs great.
