Compare a bottle of AMSOIL 10w-30 to your bottle of 5w-20. Yes the 5w-20 says SYNTHETIC on it, but on the 10w-30 it will say 100% SYNTHETIC. That's the difference. The 5w-20 is a synthetic made from a mineral base. The 10w-30 is 100% man made synthetic. All of the XL7500 series willonly say synthetic instead of 100% synthetic.

wasn't aware of that.. it beats all the other "full" synthetics out there in all the tests i've seen, so thats reason enough for me even if the composition isn't a full 100% synthetic

i would imagine it is hard to keep all the stability ratings with a full 100 percent synthetic 5w-20 being that its so thin.

I'm not sure why they only make the 5w-20 in that series. You might be right on the stability issue. I know that they do make a 100% synth. 5w-30 though. I'm thinking of moving up to the 5w-30 since the summers here in Texas get so freaking hot.

good plan.. summers in CA don't get too hot, and occasionally they have some chilly days. I ran mobile 1 5w-30 before this, but wanted to try the amsoil 5w-20 for gas mileage and performance purposes. Since I'll be over 30k on the next oil change, i'll probably put amsoil 5w-30 in for the rest of the car's life, just for a little added protection.
