T-5 Builders come in.

I rebuilt my t-5. It still works, so I must not have screwed it up too bad.

You will need a press and some “half moon” gear/bearing supports to hold the gears/bearings as you press them off of the shafts. I borrowed a cheap harbor freight press from a farmer, and borrowed gear/bearing half moon supports (I do not remember the technical name for them) from a local shop.

That is all you need that is beyond what you probably already have in your toolbox (for disassembly and assembly). You are supposed to have a dial indicator to measure shaft end play in order to set some shims correctly. I tried my best with a digital calipers. I think I was secretly hoping it would shell out so I could have an excuse to buy a 6 speed, but it continues to hold up.

If you have trouble removing the steel NPT plugs in the cast aluminum casing, heat them with a hand held propane torch until red, hit them square on with a hammer while they are still hot. Wait for them to cool, then remove them with ease.

Like mentioned, you will need a press, a few differerent pullers, and a dial indicator setup. It would also be a good idea to get plenty of shims for both the input shaft and countershaft when you get the rebuild kit. I actually ended up making one of the pullers because I couldn't find something to work. The whole deal was actually pretty easy, and it's really rewarding when you're done.
