I'm wrapping up a T-5 conversion on my 66 coupe, and I was courious what lower shift boot setup would work best. What has everyone else used, 66 4 speed, 3 speed, late model T-5 style 1 or 2, or other? Also how did you attach whichever boot you used? Pictures would also be appreciated.

I use the standard four speed boot with the top cut off and then put this over the modified four speed boot.

So the four speed boot will mate up to the top of the T-5 alright? I will neet to order wich ever lower boot I plan to use, that is I am asking this. My plan is to use the stock 66 upper, at least until I get my console refinished a installed, then I might switch to a leather upper.

National Parts Depot sells a boot and flange for the T-5 conversion for reasonable $. I used it in my '65 with T-5 and it works fine and looks good.

NPD sells a conversion "lower boot"? I missed that, do you have a part number?

I do not use a lower boot (wanted to save weight - yea right!).

The top 65/66 boot does not work with the "old style" shifter attached to the five speed. Can not remember if the standard five speed shifter worked with the 65/66 top boot.

NPD part number is 7277-2A. It works well with the 7210-8A shifter handle.

Wait -- you're talking about the smaller boot that's actually attached to the transmission? Use the stock T-5 piece. I'm confused...
