T-5 to AOD

I bought my car as a rolling chasis. It originally had a t-5, but i bought an AOD that has a shift kit, 3500 stall, and a bunch of other stuff. Is there anything i have to change in the car other than the shifter to make it work? the engine I pulled to put in the car was from an auto car also.

pedal assembly. possibly computer. (i heard the aod is better than the t-5 computer anyway)

oh yeah and u may have to splice some wires......for the reverse lights....etc

I would sell the AOD and just go with a tremec 3550tko($1830 from mustangs unlimited). Would save u all the time changing it over and it will handle almost anything u throw at it.

I have been involved in one such swap. If the motor you are gonna use is form an auto car you probably already have the flexplate and starter index plate covered. The hardest part for us was bending cooler lines from scratch. And you are gonna want a large cooler to go with that 3500 stall I would think.

yea im going to be getting a larger tranny cooler. i will be using an a9p computer. The main thing i was wondering about was if there were any wiring differences? i have the pedal assembly, shifter, flexplate, and the tranny lines out of the other car. I was told thought that i could use steel braided hose for the tranny cooler.

You can swap the harness for the reverse lights and such. It runs from the tranny tunnel under the driver seat over to the driverside kick panel. Get one form an AOD car and it is a direct plug in. Also need to make or jumper wire for the brown plug under the dash that plugs into the clutch pedal assembly.

Just out of curiosity why are u going to switch transmissions the performance of ur car converting form the standard to the t5 will totally depends on ur gears and ur motor for instance a stock mustang will runs a lot better with a 5 speed verses a strandard because of the motor combination they come with stock an automatic in ur car will work great if u have a beefy motor u get me. An automatic takes more rotating mass to turn the tires verses a 5 speed mustang.Like in my car i have a a 1400 horsepower car and i have an automatic for consistancy i could not shift fast enough to keep up with the car. but anyways i think the automatic would be great for u if u have some what of a hot motor u know what im sayin if u have any questions i would be more than glad to help u with them and oh yeah u were asking about computers the automatic computer is a must if u are converting because if u dont use it the car will not recognize neutral and reverse well hope this can help u man .

I would like to see some pics and specs on your ride. What were you running for a manual trans and clutch with that kind of power?

Anyway mricci if your car was originally a manual tranny car I bet you could find someone on here that would be glad to swap the wiring harness Myke86Gt mentioned. Since most people swap the other direction the 5-speed harness should be in demand.

I sell my a-z t5 conversion kits for $1100-1200 shipped, and have no problem selling them.

fyi, cut this guy some slack. While I too HATE auto's he's not putting in a STOCK aod folks, read, it sounds like a built aod. That aod should easily tighten up the slack created from a stock aod, and should run quite well.

fyi, tuck your clutch pedal under the carpet, and just use that pedal assembly, no need to create more work for yourself. Should be a very simple swap.

you can also un bolt the clutch pedal from the assembly, and use a spacer of some kind to take up the slack and put the nut back on.....

The aod that im putting in has a little over $2000 into. I bought it from someone who built a new motor then blew the motor up with only a few hundred miles on it.

I want to see some pics of your car too scott. Do you have anymore info on it?
