What are ALL of the differences between a world class t-5 from a 1990 LX 5.0 and a 1994 World Class T-5, i have the chance of rebuilding a 1990 t-5 for my car(1994, im swapping from the auto) but i need to know exactly what needs to be replaced to make it fit. what i know so far is that the 1994 input chaft is 5/8" different, but do they just bolt in and out directly?. also, are the gear ratios the same and are the splines the same to the driveshaft. also, are the clutch forks different from 87-93, and 94-95? Ive heard yes which means i was sent the wrong part. Thanks in advance, Kyle

d/s spline is the same. the clutch forks are different (fox is shorter)

if you wanted to run a complete fox setup would also need the fox bellhousing and a d/s spacer

i think the 94/95 is rated slightly higher for tq then the fox t5's

i would definately not be running the fox set-up. i have the 94 bellhousing, i will have the 94 clutchfork, and i would rather not try to fit other year parts in my car when doing the swap; i want things to be as smooth as possible. i just need to know what is different, including the plug for the harness (i know the harness is different so is the plug as well?) and the speedo pickup. it would be nice to know what people suggest for rebuild parts. this is a good chance to upgrade the internals to make the t-5 not suck so bad as the stock ones do. by the way, i'm having a professional trans shop look the tranny over and rebuild it for me, but hes just not familiar with the differences between the two, without looking at the two again (its been a while since he's rebuilt a 1994 t-5.) thanks, keep the replies comin

i have a fox style t5 in my garage for when mine decides to crap out. the reverse plug is the same. the round thing with the two prongs. i can go check the VSS for ya.

when i did the AODE-T5 swap i used my stock VSS and speedo gear. i just had to trim the end of the gear down 1/4" or so. but i also swapped in a 94/95 trans. ill check the fox and post back

thanks, i'd appreciate the assurance about the VSS being the same, also, can anyone tell me if i can just swap out the input shaft and be ok?? or are there other things that need to be changed within the trans to make it work?

well, i think im gonna drop that transmission either tuesday or wednesday morning before work. i just hope he doesnt either open it up and say it needs all new gears and is not worth rebuilding, or when he tries to bolt up the new inputshaft/ bearing retainer, they dont bolt up. that would be too bad since this will probably save me about a grand. thanks for all the help so far urban, and ill check back here in the AM just in case anyone has any earth shattering news of why it cant be done. even though the bearing retainers have a different part number, and the input shaft has different numbers as well, this makes sense since each of them should be a tad longer. i hope it'll still be ok as far as the bolt pattern goes. HERE GOES NOTHING!!

I've seen some input shafts for 87-93 W/C T5's on Ebay and it said in big print "this will NOT fit 94/95 T5's. Something you might want to think about. I think your best bet would be to get a fox bellhousing and fork so it will all just bolt up. The difference in length is minimal and you won't need a DS spacer. I ran one for 3 years with no spacer after doing an AODE to T5 swap and had no problems whatsoever, and, I romped on it EVERYDAY!

A slight modifcation to your crossmember might be necessary, but it's not too involved and can be done in your garage. That's my .02

damn, after some research, things were looking real good, but now this is getting me kind of worried. granted, it would be the other way around from putting in the 94 shaft into the fox trans, but from what i've read, they should be pretty much the same as for everything except for the 5/8" length difference that i need. something that would help me understand this, does anyone know the 4th gear tootch count for either and/ or both input shafts, i was told that if the tooth count was the same, it didnt need a different counter shaft, and the input shaft bearings ere the same size (they are since its the same part)than it would be able to bolt up interchangeably.
