Whats the difference between a t-5 from a v8 and a v6?
Are the gears different?
Is the bellhousing different?

Depends on the year really. The later years got the same gearset as the 94-95 5.0's pretty much and are rated at 300 ft-lbs.

You still need to swap the input shaft if you want to run it in a Fox Mustang.

Yes, the bellhousing is different. It's longer to accomodate the longer input shaft.

You should swap the input shaft for use with a fox, then use a fox bellhousing, fork, and clutch assembly.

Read my post. Mine is in a 68 also. I'm just trying to give you advice from someone that has done the swap before.

Edit: I re-read my post, and I see why you're confused by it. I meant to say
"You should switch the input shaft out and put in a shaft from a fox T5, then use a fox bellhousing and clutch kit"

A fox setup from the bellhousing back to the tailshaft is the way to go.
I have a fox bellhousing, clutch fork, and clutch kit, the swap crossmember (mine is from California Pony Cars), and a Ron Morris cable kit. Works great. Been in there for 7 years now with no problems.

You really need to clarify much more. there are two V8 bellhousings. 86-93 and 94-95. Both have different lenghts.

The fox bellhousing is shorter, and as a result t-5's used in fox v8's are shorter than 94-95 V8 trans and V6 t-5's.

A V6 T-5 will bolt up to a 94-95 bellhousing and work, but if you try to bolt it to an 86-93 bell, the input shaft will be too long. You'll need to swap the input shaft and bearing retainer with one from a 90-93 Fox t-5.

Use the whole V6 trans, bellhousing and all. The extra 1" length over the Fox trans puts the shifter right through the middle of the shifter hole. You'll need a 164-tooth flywheel and large clutch to make it work though...a '91 F150 5.0 flywheel should do the trick for that.

It may not put it in the center in a 68. I have fox stuff in mine, and it is in the center of the hole, it's perfect. I don't think 1 more inch would make it better in that car.

I've seen a SN95 T5 in a 65, 67, and 1970 and all of them fit great. Most fox T5s require trimming the front of the hole to fit the shifter. I don't know that they fit any better, but it seems like nobody has had a problem using a newer T5.

Also need to remember that the V6 transmissions have an Electronic Speedometer not a Mechanical Speedometer.

Maybe they do fit great. Nobody has a problem using a fox T5 either, as that's what most people use when they put them in classics.

I didn't have to trim any of the tunnel at all, mine fit great.
