I just put my 3.55 gears in the other day and I thought the T lok spring was a 2 piece deal. Turns out i broke it in half and didnt notice. Then i popped both pieces back in becuase i thought it was supposed to be 2 springs. Well turns out its suppoed to be one becuaee both pieces fell out and broke and one went through my rear end cover (AWESOME!!!) Well i finished welding up the cover I just need to find a new spring and figure out how to get it in there. Do i have to remove the C clips and pull the shafts out then just hamer it in there? do i need to take out the spiders? AHHHHHHHH! Im pissed.

You don't have to take out the spiders!! All you have to do is remove the 8mm bolt and the large carrier pin for sure, which is simple as pie. I forget if you have to slide the axles out or not, you may have to, but thats easy.. just remove the c lips with a magnet, slide the axles out a bit and hammer the s spring in. Then put the carrier pin in, 8mm bolt, then the axles and clips. That should do it.

The spring dosn't go in very easy. You will need some finesse to get it in there. You will have to take the wheel and drum off to get the axle in far enought to get the clip off but it will come right off when you do this.

Get a spring for the F-150.. I put one in my rear when I rebuilt it. It's a bit stiffer than the orignal "S" spring and is a budget upgrade to make both wheels lock up. What I did was use 2 hose clamps to get it in. Put them on the "S" spring about 3/4 in from the edge.. The it in until the spring goes to the 1st clamp remove it and tap it in until the 2nd clamp, remove and tap the rest of the way in. Read that somewhere on the net and it worked like a champ...
