Well the T45 in my 78,000 mile '98 GT is F'd up. Had it checked out and soemthing is messed up inside. It's been popping out of reverse and not going into 3rd correctly.

So anyone know a good place to get a low mileage or remanufactured tranny?

I have to pull the money for a T45 out of my butt (cause I don't have any money right now), so $2600 for a T56 won't happen. But it would be nice. :D

:nice:

$2600 is not bad, the tranny for my last beetle was $4000 for a 6-speed.

Anyone else have any sources they can share? So far I'm looking at, at least $1000 for a remanufactured tranny. I have found 2 places selling reman T45's for like $700 but they are West coast and I'm East coast so shipping is liek $200 or so.

Can it not be rebuilt?

I just take my trannys out and have them rebuilt at a good local tranny shop

depending on the tranny model and the damage inside will determine the price

Usually if you do not have any major components( such as input/output shafts) damaged it will not be too much to be rebuilt ex $400-$600

The T45 are a little more difficult to rebuilt compared to a T56 or 3650 because the way the componts are installed and how you have to turn it upside down to rebuild

If you look around i know some mach owner that found a rebuilt TR-3550 for 800 bucks which is real good.

I'd love to do something different, but this has to be done as cheap as possible. I am hella poor. I'm almost broke.

The T45 will go back in it. I may have it rebuilt. I'm looking into that. Or I may buy a decent used box locally.

I can not afford to upgrade. I wish I could. If I could swing it, I'd put a T56 in it. As someday I hope to have KB blower on this car.
