well i rebuilt my tranny last fall with the motorsport kit, everything has been flawless until it started to get warm around here. when my car gets hot sometimes upon take off i will get a whisp of bearing noise or something, the noise will only last a second or two, im sure alot of you have herd a t5make this noise before, i have, but it drives me crazy when things are not perfect. i pulled the motor and tranny this winter and when i was out i reshimmed the input bearing to clean up some of the initial seat in, but like i said everything has been perfect until today. in fact i just took it out to the store and couldnt make the noise, but i know something is going on. im thinking input roller bearing, torrington bearing, or a possible re shim. any input...?

i'm no expert but are you running a short throw shifter? with a short throw its common to hear a t5 whine a bit, i am not sure if your t5 is whining or what. seeing as how it just came up suddenly it may not be your problem, just tossing up some ideas.

is it specific to any gear or any certain driving condition like under accel/decceleration?

well it only does it in 1st gear intermitenlly depending upon the torque load. yes, aucutually it is similar to the noise if i put slight pressure on my shifter, so it touches the stop. more like a scraping bearing type noise not a whine. im running a b&m ripper, adjusted properly. i just took it to the store for ice cream and pounded on it and it made no noise, but in the heat of the afternoon i herd it 3-4 times. im not too concerned about the seriousness of it at the moment, i have herd and owned a few in the past with a similar noise, but now that i know how to work on these things now i wont tollerate anything less than perfect. right now the weather is nice and im a little tired of working on it otherwise id pull it right out and im not sure if the noise im hearing warrants a pull out or not.
