T5 from T-bird....speedo off now

I got a T-5 out of a Thunderbird and now the speedo is off by at least 10 mph too low. What can I do? Thanks.

change the speedo gear to the right one.......

did you use the trans. speed sensor that was connected to your old tranny or did you use the sensor that was on the t-bird tranny?also what size rear end gears do you have?

even if you have the correct driven gear on your speedo cable to compensate for a rearend gear change, the speedometer drive gear in the transmission might be different. if your speedo was correct before the transmission change, it sounds like this is your case.

I have the stock gears in the rear. Canok you might be right with the gear inside the tranny.

Do you know what year the trans came from??


If you look inside the hole where the speedo goes, you'll see the gear. Yellow would be a 7-tooth, green is an 8-tooth and black is a rare 6-tooth.
