I have a new to me 89 with the t5. In fifth gear it vibrates so bad it feels like the car is falling apart. I can't even hold my hand on the shifter. I push in clutch and it goes away. Will some times do it in 4th. What would cause this? Thanks
This will happen at any speed. Whether I put it in fifth year at 60 miles an hour or 30 miles an hour it starts vibrating through the handle so much that I can't even hold onto it
Is still check them, I've had bad wheel bearings cause vibration. Im no expert on t5 trans missions but I'd suggest checking your motor mounts transmission mounts and lug nut tightness .
If you have the drive shaft out now I'd get new u joints and have the shaft balanced, vibrations and shaking violently take their toll on old parts. Once and done.
If you have the money, go with a FRPP aluminum driveshaft. It comes with new u-joints and made a big difference on my car with solving vibrations. I do have 3.73s on mine though.
