T5 Input shaft twisted?

I recently picked up a T5 out of an '86 GT. Cheap.

Tearing into it, I've learned 3rd gear is shot. Missing lots of teeth shot.

The other thing I've noticed is that the splines on the input don't look perfectly straight. Like the shaft is slightly twisted. It may be my imagination. has anyone ever seen this before? Or is the input made of hardened steel that would break before it twisted much?

Just looking for opinions and other's experiences.

I had one a couple of months ago that looked like what your decribing, everything was twisted even the main shaft, it looked like he had way too much clutch for the car..

Yep ,they can twist the splines...Ive seen a few and also had one in mine twist,
