I have a 1990 5.0 LX with a T5 and when the engine is running and you put it in first it whines but when you hit the clutch it quits. I was wondering what the symptoms of a pilot bearing gone bad would be? Or a throwout bearing??? The clutch doesnt slip but it does chatter a little bit. Any help would be great.

That doesn't necessarily mean it's the pilot or throwout bearing. When you let the clutch out in nuetral it still spins the input shaft.
Biggest source of whine inside the t-5 is between the input and mainshaft. Causes are low fluid.
Check your fluid level
