My transmission has a gear whine in all gears but 4th. If I'm in 1st, 2nd or 3rd and I let off of the gas I get a horrible grinding sound. The noise has been getting worse since I bought it two years ago. I've replaced the fluid three times in two years hoping it was that.

What are your recommendations?

Thanks for the link. I read what they do to the main shafts and it sounds exactly what I need. I sent them an email and I'll see where it goes.

Has anybody heard anything good or bad about these folks?

A built t-5 can only handle 330TQ. Not worth the time and money get a tko.

a rebuild is the way to go if your cant afford the $$ for a TKO......a friend of mine ran a '92 LX with H/C/I and an NOS 250hp shot on the stock T-5 for 2 years....so they're fairly stout...they just cant handle the abuse for extended periods of time......his car was not a daily driver but was street legal and did get driven to and from the track(45 minutes one way)

I'll probably have to go this route since funds are tight. How do you ship it back though? Does it have to go truck or does the UPS/FEDX/DHL types ship something this big?

UPS will do anything up to 150 lbs no problem. And a T-5 is a cute little thing, nowhere near 150#.

99-up v-6 tranny is the way to go!

I can get'em locally for $200. They are not abused and all you need is to use your tailhousing and speedo gear.

BTW they handle 350 tq.

Not that I don't believe you, but I am from Missouri (Show Me!). Is there a website that shows someone doing this? I have to drive 150 miles to work on the car and I'm afraid I would get there, take the tranny out and need something I have to special order.

If this is a hurt-proof swap then I am all for it and would like to buy one.
