t5 rebuild Q

Ok, got the mainshaft all back together but have one snag, the 5th driven gear, the smallest gear that goes on the mainshaft (output shaft), which way does it go on? if you know the gear i mean, you will see how it has a side that gets narrower as it goes out and a side that just kind of goes straight down.
So can anyone tell me if the narrowing side or the straight side goes toward the bearing that it seats on?

Flat side of the gear goes toward the bearing.
