T5 rebuild questions (yes I searched)

4. No, only the ones that came in the Foxes. The SN95's have a longer input shaft.

Sig. I notice it was a 2.3 conversion- is it the 2.3 T5 that's screwing up? I'm not sure the 4 bangers had the same one the V8's did- don't know if the bell housing would work or not.

If you're near Philly, take it over and have Bob Hanlon take it for a drive. He'll probably be able to tell you up front most of the other parts you may need. And he'll probably have all of the parts in stock.

i would go g-force. I currently have a liberty. Yeah, i got the video and its awsome. when i rebuilt my t-5 i brought the tv and vcr to the garage, and did it step by step, No prob.

A T5 rebuild kit with syncros, bearings and other small parts costs about $160. It does not include any gears or shafts.

I did a Tremec 3550 rebuild, and it wasn't that difficult. The video was an immense help, and I would recommend viewing it. At $20, it will give you an opportunity to look and decide for yourself if you think that it is something you want to try to do.

The tricky part is that you will need some shims to adjust the endplay in the two shafts: the new bearings will change the clearance. There is no way of telling what it will be until you get to the point that it is time to measure and check the clearances. Halon has the individual shims if you can wait for them. If you can't afford the wait, the auto parts store can sell you some shim stock and you can make your own, or have a machine shop make them for you. The shim stock comes in brass (easy to cut) and steel, in varying thicknesses.

Rebiulding the t5 is a piece of cake as long as you have the tools and a hydralic press all you have to do is take your time.As far as the noise my friends whined and it wound up being a gear not a bearing.

I got quoted 1,000 bucks at least from a shop around here. He said he has to open it up and check it out. This was with me willing to bring the tranny to him also. Kinda crazy. Most shops won't even rebuild a 5 speed they only want automatics.

I used the video and it made the job a piece of cake. It explains everything and I didnt run into any promblems.
