About to yank out the t5 on my 95 gt before swapping a 351w in. Already have the 300$ master rebuild kit and a summit input shaft bearing retainer on the way. The transmission still shifted into all of its gears last time I drove on it and wasn't popping out of any gears on its own. Sometimes I had to move the shifter a cretain way to shift into 3rd but that was all. It had about 230k miles on it so I'm thinking a rebuild wouldn't be a bad idea. I just bought two dvds from bad shoe productions, one on rebuilding the t5 and the other on rebuilding the 8.8.
I was wondering what parts commonly wear out and need replacement. Do the main shafts and countershaft cluster gear set usually need to be replaced? I expect to find a gear or two on the mainshaft to be missing some teeth and need to be replaced. I can get the countershaft cluster gear set for 150 but am concerned about whether or not the mainshaft usually needs to be replaced. And lastly does the shift fork and linkages commonly go out and need replacement? Thanks for any help
