t5 shifter is loose!!

i just put a new t5 into my mustang. the handle with the two bolts is loose. it works fine, i just dont want to miss any gears. is there anyway to make the shifter stiffer???

Tighten the bolts maybe?

nope doesnt work... the bolt get to a point where they wont turn anymore.... still is very loose...

you forgot the plastic cup that the shifter goes in to. they can fall out.

If you want to get the best out of that new T5, I'd just go out and buy an aftermarket shifter. Pro5.0, MGW, Hurst, etc. The new shifter will be much tighter right off the bat, and also protect the new trans from missed shifts and bent shift forks. Aftermarket shifters are usually less than 200$, so its a worthwhile investment.

Go to the hardware store and either get shorter bolts,or shim it washers so you can tighten it.Is the rubber piece still in the shifter lever?
