I'm about to do this swap...I have a couple questions for anyone.

First, I have a remote starter...so whats going to have to be done for this to still work? I assume a bypass something is needed.

Second, how hard is this swap? Me and my dad have little mechanic experience, I mean I read the tutorials I know everything it's talking about, just not a lot of hands on experience, we have all the time we need to finish it.

Anyone have a guess of how much labor this would be to do?

I found some writeups...allformustangs and wc mustangs, are there any other good ones?

It's a pretty easy swap. Pedals aren't as bad as some tell you they are. Just unbolt part of the steering shaft under the dash. I didn't have to drop the column or anything. Just gotta give a couple convincing words to it, and voila it's in.

Thanks guys. The reason the SN95 computer has to be changed is because it has the AOD-E and the car will hesitate at the time the computer thinks its time to shift by pulling out timing.

Okay, so the manual trans assembly goes like ths:
Pilot bearing attaches to the crank, and then the flywheel, first half of the clutch, other half of the clutch, pressure plate, and trans? Is there a website or someone that can explain all this to me?

and BTW, I didn't have to swap computer on mine 90 when I did it, what's the deal with SN95's?

To further clarify that, it's not only because the SN95 has the AODE, but because the EEC also controls the AODE and its shift points. I believe this can be compensated for/disabled by using a TwEECer or a chip, but otherwise as Synned said, it pulls timing when it believes it's shifting the auto.

NO CUTTING IS NEEDED, AT LEAST NOT WITH THE TKO. AND THE CLUTCH PEDALS IS BY FAR THE WORST PART OF IT.
TAKE OUT THE DRIVERS SEAT FOR THE EXTRA ROOM!!!! TRUST ME. WELL WORTH THE TIME TO TAKE IT OUT. I SPENT PROBLY TWO HOURS ON THAT DAMN THING IT KICKED MY A$$:owned:

THE REST WAS SIMPLE.

Did you guys need a lift when you did it?

It sounds like its impossible to do on jack stands.

BTW, my auto is really starting to **** on me.

ITS GONE. Today driving all of a sudden feels like its in neutral, then kicks back. Sometimes starting off from a light I have nothing, then jumps into gear. Sometimes it goes into OD when it should be in 2nd...its all ****ed up man.

Synned, trust me, its a very easy swap. just the first time around, especially if you dont have alot of hand on exp, its gunna take time. Might i suggest a way of doing it?
Day 1: Take everyhitng out. H-Pipe, D/S, AOD, pedals all that crap. Then do any prepping you want (cleaning stuff, modifying the crossmember ETC)
Day 2: Do the pedals FIRST. Get that crap out of the way! Its annoying, but not impossible.Take out the driver side seat and drop the steering column. Then put in the clutch tranny etc. Now, you can finish up all the litle crap, or move on to a 3rd day.
Day 3: Make sure your tranny is filled, check and double check eletrical connections (not many, like 2-3 TOPS) double check all bolts (D/S bolts and Flywheel bolts should be thread locked), put in the exhaust, adjust the clutch. Now take her for a spin and clean up!

I feel ya on the neutral feeling. my tranny did the same thing... It was a bad TV cable. HINT: (at least in NYC) for bulk pickup, the garbage men take AODs :D If you want, i can go into detail for EVERYTHING you need to kno, just pm or email me. Where are you located? maybe i can help you out... depending. BTW: mine was doen in my driveway, with 1 jack and 2 jack stands.

with the t5, you need to extend the hole in the trans tunnel at the front by about 1/2" to clear the tranny. maybe the tko is different, but i am going by my personal experience with swapping in the t5.
