I'm in the process of getting all the parts I need for an auto - T5 swap.

Does it matter if I use the late model pilot bearing and throwout bearing vs the classic versions? Are they the same?

I've stumbled across a couple of websites that say to make sure you use the classic style bearings, but I can't see how that would make a difference.

You can use either the late or early model pilot bearing.
The early style is a brass bearing, the late model a roller bearing.

Throwout bearing should be depend on the throwout arm you're using. Using original throwout arm, use original style throwout bearing. Using a late model throwout arm use late-model throwout bearing.

Well, I plan on using the original T5 bellhousing with late model throwout arm (cable clutch conversion). And roller bearing sounds better than brass, so It sounds like for me the late model stuff is the way to go.

Thanks 2bav8!
