T5 swap trouble

I finally got the engine and trans in my coupe. Motor mounts and transmission mount are all attached, but I noticed the 2 front bolts on the shifter base plate are underneath the trans tunnel.

The car was an auto, this isn't normal is it? Because I wouldn't be able to change shifters without dropping the trans the way it sits now.

yup, thats what happens, you gotta cut out that front section of the tunnel a bit. if youve got the lower boot, use that as a guide, cut the section out, drill a couple holes, throw in some speed nuts (or w/e you want to call them) and bolt it down.

Ditto, ran into the same issue, just cut out enough to get a socket to fit over the shifter plate bolt. The rubber shifter boot fits right over with a couple of self tapping screws.
