T5 whining

I just installed a "rebuilt" T5 w/ a used Ram HD clutch and short shifter in my car that I bought from someone on the corral; I drove it today for the first time, and while I'm thrilled that I can actually shift now, it sounds like I have a damn supercharger in first and second gear. I took this to be a sign of gear damage as I believe I've heard that such whining is indicative of gear damage before, but when I contacted the seller he claims that the gears in this tranny were in great shape, and that he's had another t5 do this, as well as his buddy's g-force . . . I'm not sure if I believe him or not, he does have 100% positive feedback for 145 transactions, but then my old tranny (which I just found out is a built unit w/ 2.95 first gear, upgraded bearing retainer etc.) didn't whine at all despite the fact that I burned up my synchros and was grinding gears every other shift for a while until I could get the "new" tranny.

Anyone else ever experience this? Is the seller full of it, or what?

Mine has a real bad whine in 1st, 2nd and third. The previous owner didn't tighten up the drain plug all the way for the fluid so it leaked out there. I went to change the fluid and had half a pint of fluid left. I would say you got some bearings that are not happy.

I have a Pro Motion tranny and it whines. You can hear it before my turbo spools. My buddy has a built tranny and it whines as well. I've seen this alot on built trannys.
