im thinking about getting a 6-speed with 4.30 gears for my 97 cobra. would the t56 be a good choice or should i go with somthing else.
50resto.com has a new t56 for about $2700, what else would i need to install it?
the t56 is great. it allows you to have extra gearing and still get good gas mileage. i personaaly would only swap to a 6spd if i were doing a swap. you'll need a new transmission brace and i think a new driveshaft. i thought i saw a complete kit for the 6spd conversion somewhere for around $2700. can't remember where.
www.ddperformance.com is where you're thinking DBM. they sell both the Ford rated and the Viper spec T56 swap kits. granted the Viper spec one is more expensive, but it sure is stronger.
^^ That site has the ford T56 + install kit for $2700 that sounds appealing... I LOVE the T56 in my dad's GTO, I was very surprised at the difference it made will driving.
That's what I had in my '96 cobra before I sold it. One of these days I am gonna throw one on my bullitt. I loved it. I would go with different gears though. I had 3:73's. 1st gear hardly had any tire spin. 2nd gear had tire spin but controlable. 3rd & 4th were pulling gears. 5th was somewhat of a pulling gear. And 6th was my cruising gear at high speeds.
