Engine Tabs In Lifter Valley

i was just wondering if anyone can tell me what these tabs are and their purpose. they look like they are part of the head gasket maybe but idk for sure it kinda looks like they are between the head and the block. they are made of very soft metal almost as malleable as lead. heres a video.

Yup head gasket. Look at your intake gasket it has a set of tabs on it as well together they help locate and retain the correct position of the intake gasket for manifold installation
