Looking at something like this:

87-93 Mustang Smoked Blackout Taillight Covers by GTS at LRS - Same Day Shipping!

Anybody got them? How do they look? Thinking about picking up a set.

Man, this question has been asked a lot recently.

My car had a set when I bought it, installed by the PO. They look like hell, and cops will give you hell for running them. The adhesive pads show through and they collect water. They just suck all around.

If you're dead set on tinted lights, use the tint paint on your original lenses or buy aftermarket tinted lenses, NOT covers.

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

i ran them for a while on my black vert to cover the messed up lenses, until i almost got hit and decided that it was a good time to take them off.
remember, brighter tail, stop and turn lights are your friend.

I remember when everyone had those in the 90's

Amazing how trends come and go

mid to late 90's: head and taillight covers

early 00's....clear taillights

mid 00's....altezzas

2008+....tinted head and taillights.

What's next?

2011 - stock tails stock headlights.

Personally I have stock tails and smoked headlights. Hate the HLs. Once its repainted I gotta look for nice stockers.

I got it for $13 at summit: VHT SP999 - VHT Nite Shades Coating - Overview - SummitRacing.com but I heard they have it at parts stores. I put 3 coats on to make it real dark. If you are worried about the police, you could go with one or two coats. There is a guy on the corral who has had this stuff on for a decade but I think he took the lens covers off and sprayed the inside?

HAHAHA, so true. Forgot about the pads showing through. Had them for a while on my mustang...looked good on a black car, but too much drama with people not seeing me brake....not worth it.

Yeah, I looked arround since then. $94 is highway robbery.

Plus, since I'm running white cheese graters, Covers wouldn't look stylish enough. I may do the paint. Gotta check with my town.

Yep, the headlight covers for my 86 are stored in the garage. I'll put them on and look at it occasionally, but just can't bring myself to run them full time anymore.
