This may be a really stupid question, but does anyone know if taillights to a 96-98 will fit a 1995 GT? Thanks.

Yes, you just have to splice into the wire harness. It isn't a hard job.

Yes they'll fit, but you'll get bashed by guys for going against the 94-95 style. Personally, I like the newer lights and plan on getting them, too. If you can, get the harness for the lights out of the junkyard instead of paying like $50 for each side from a website.

Like StangGT1995 said, if you get some '96-'98 tail light harnesses, you won't need to do any splicing. Just unplug the '94-'95s and plug in the '96-'98s.

When I got mine, I think I paid $80 for the lights and $8 for the harnesses from 2 Ebay auctions.

It's not a stupid question, and I did it several years ago...it was a very popular mod in '96 before the 94\95 guys got all insecure about being confused for a 4.6. Here's how to do it (no splicing necessary at all it's 100% plug and play).

2 tail lights
2 tail light bezels (paint to match car or pain black like the saleen's)
2 tail light wiring harnesses with light bulbs (I think mine were like $35 a piece from Ford, there are seperate left and right harnesses)

Remove the 94\95 tail lights (you'll have to remove the rear trunk liner from the trunk in order to get to the bolts. Deep well sockets are needed to remove the bolts. Unbolt the lights, pull them forward and disconnect the light harness. Next unplug the tail light harness from the left and right side, then push the harness through the hole and remove the harness. Next push the 96-98 harnesses through the holes and connect to the main wiring harness in the trunk of the car where you just removed the 94\95 taillight harnesses. Put the bezels on the lights, then next plug the lights into the tail lights and bolt them back to the car. put the trunk liner back in and you're done. The whole process should take 30-45 minutes if your'e taking your time.

For some reason i only like the 94-95 lights with the Saleen Tail light covers. I have them luckily but Saleen no longer makes tham. That said if for some reason my tail lights and saleen covers were broken, then i would probably go with some 96-98 lights with the bezels painted black.

I have a set of stock tailights w/ harness off of my 95 cobra I'll sell ya. They are black and in very good condition. Not cracked but very slightly faded. I can take a pic tonight if you are interested. I also live in NJ. I'll take $100 for the pair w/ the harness & bulbs. Email me at Maverick95@optonline.net if interested.
