I need new tail pipes, I often see coups and verts with very nice 2.5 " tailpies, but no one ever post what make they are running.. My regards to tailpipes are that they should be very shinny ( the section that is visible to the eye ) and fit well. If any of you guys have some pictures ( with description ) of your tailpipes please post them.

When I shop online I cant get a good visual of the tailpipes, and I am dying to order some this week.

Any pics would be a great help!

Thanx

I run the flowmaster american thunder cat back.

Their tailpipes fit really well and provide a ton of clearance for the tires.
Im running a 275/60/15 and there is at least 1" of clearance around the tire and the pipes are about 1" from the gas tank cover as well.

MAC actually make pretty nice tail pipes, as do Flowmaster. They're about the only 2 i've dealt with.

Dude you can make anything shiny with enough brillo, sandpaper and white rouge!

The MAC ones I've got are stainless steel, very shiny when polished and are stainless from the bend right over the rear axle. The only downside I have with them are that the tail pipe and tube coming from the mufflers are two seperate pieces and there is a big ugly clamp that attaches them. I've hidden the clamp mostly but from the side you can still see where the two pipes attach. Not a huge deal at all though. I'll try to post some pics for you later.

Most of the MACs that i've seen were just chromed steel, and a lot of Flowmasters are polished stainless.

and to my belief the two piece tail pipes can be better fit..because of the way they are joind together. no?

I like how MAC separates theirs at the axle, that way you can adjust them both at the back of the muffler and from the axle back. This allows you to make sure you have axle clearance, and you get to tuck them up to the bumper and get them even and all that.....because there's NOTHING worse (aside from maybe hood gap) than uneven tail pipes.

I've spent hours trying to get mine properly adjusted and they're still a bit off. Not too noticeable, but I know they are so it drives me crazy! I just need to set aside some time to make them 100%.

Georgie, I bought my cat-back from a place called The Mustang Shop up here in Canada. Here's the link:http://www.themustangshop.ca/site/cat_viewpart.php?PartNumber=VEs3OTk1

Maybe i,m just an old man. My 89 had 21/2 in pipes with what looked like Flowmasters when I got it. I couldn,t stand the noise. I took the whole cat back systems off & put on stock parts. It,s a lot quieter then it was but still more noise than I want. I,d like to put a single system on it but I wouldn,t do that to a v-8.

Yea, I bought the whole cat-back plus the off-road x pipe. You can buy the tubes from the mufflers back off of MAC's website but I don't know if they'd bolt up to the system youve got.

Flowmaster c/b here

The pipe is shinier than the picture shows, but you get an idea of how much of the tailpipe you can see.
