tailshaft housing seal

is that the correct term? are there any other names for it? anyone have a part #? i went to the parts store and ended up walking out of there with a mainshaft seal. looks similar. i found it on 50resto but i really dont feel like paying $20 if i can get it locally. does this look right?

Might be it. It is definitly not a rear main seal

Are you looking for the seal for the rear diff? Not clear what you are looking for.

Its a pinion seal if its for the rear diff. That looks like a tranny seal to me.

the seal that goes in the back of the tranny where the driveshaft slides in

that looks like it..... they usually have an extended rubber portion to help with seepage(to control it0

thats why i bought it . just wanted to see if anyone can say for sure this way i dont have to make any other trips to the part store.

That be it. Mine had the same light blue color to it and everything...

Worst part is getting out the old one. I used a drywall screw. Just watch your sealing surfaces...
