I'm starting to seriously look for a car now and I have to say... I HATE the side tape stripe (or stripes of any kind for that matter) so any car with it to this point has been immediately disqualified. But... it occurred to me tonight that I might just be able to remove the stripe if I were to find the perfect car with that being it's only "flaw".

Anyone done it? Worth it to try to remove it or should I just keep looking until I find the right car without the stripe at all?

Thanks!

I've removed them before. Use a heat gun to warm them up and then pull them off. Hit the area with some rubbing alcohol if any residue is left behind. Takes about ten minutes and the car looks way better without them.

Now Ford only puts side stripes on the v6s. I peeled mine right off when was new in 05. use a heat gun if they been on there for a while.

Awesome, thank you everybody. I'm still not sure whether I'm going to end up with a v8 coupe or v6 vert but knowing that freaking stripe can be removed helps with the decision.

I had them on mine and removed them this summer when it was warm. Claybarred the area afterwards and it looks fine, despite them being on for 5+ years.
