When i bought my car it has lots of tar on it, especially in the fenders. I cleaned most of it, but there are still specs of tar on most parts of the car, and i got some Bug and Tar Remover, but i dont want it to harm my paint, i'm not sure if it will or not. The pony wheels that came on my car have loads of tar on them, and i'd like to get it off and put it back on. Is there anything i could do, i need to get my car cleaned so i can wax it soon.

All that remover will do is remove any wax with it....use it, give it a good wash job and then re-wax it...

I always use charcoal lighter fluid to remove tar, bug spatter, etc....never seen any ill affects from using the stuff....

I need to get some more bug and tar, and hit the car real hard with that stuff, was the car with DAWN, and wax it real good. I have some meguires gold class or something like that. I might be doing that my next day off.

thanks for the input. i'm gonna work on detailing the exterior soon, i need to work on the interior. I have some hardcore stains in the carpets, i rented a carpet sucker/cleaner thing from the local Do-It Best Center, and used upolstry cleaner on it, and it got most of the stains but the bad ones. My dad advised me to take the carpet out, cover it in cleaner, and take it to a car wash place with a pressure washer, and pressure wash the crap outta it. He said it'll get eveything out, and they did it at the car lot he used to work at when they had bad stains.
