For 2006 the rules are getting re writen for factory stock.........
the proposed rules are for getting 14/13 sec typical bolt-on street cars the chance to race and have fun running a heads up class off a protree (John force style).
and pin them against other street cars, not a purpose built drag car.....

The worry is there is not enough people out there with TRUE bolt-on cars that will run the class........It seams the talk is Modular guys don't like Heads up racing and 5.0 street guys will not run since people seam to think all 5.0s run 165 radials up front.............

Here are the proposed rules--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Factory Stock
5.0, 4.6, 4.0, 3.8 (No Modular 4valves )
Vehicles must be street legal(registered) and able to pass state safety inspection.
A/C must be in. ( if you happen to have a AC delete coupe move up in class)
Drag radials only no cheater slicks. Front 205/15 min, Rear 275/15 Max
Minimum weight 3250 lbs/ Modular 2V and 5.0 COBRA 3400Lbs.
/ Modular 3v 3500Lbs.

Allowed modifications (Bolt-ons)
CAI,After cat exhaust, Mid pipe,Underdrive pullies,Shifter,
Gears,Throttle body,Intake,Mass Air meter,
AL driveshaft, Stock replacement rear control arms,
Timing pointer,Chip

Long block must be all original.
Car must have full interior including rear seat
" Tech reserves the right to DQ a car if it feels that an unfair advantage has been gained by a competitor"

Please post your thoughts on the rules-And would like to get a feel for if people would be interested in this class/rules for tasca day 06.

Sounds ok ,except having to have A/C and no built shortblocks.

I would race if this class existed.

The one thing that discouraged me from racing at Tasca and having fun was the fact that I would be racing against highly modified Mustangs with my cat-back + K&N only stock GT daily driver.

I would not even let my self run this class Eric.. There is already classes the intermediate and expert drivers can run in...Intent is to make a class for the Novice..

Eric
have you seen my message about help/intput on the S/S class?
Would like to get input on the S/S class from you and Pete since you have both built Turbo cars...

STK is the class now that a built N/a shortblock and a delete A/C could run in.

exactly. They should just keep the rules the way they are. There are already enough classes. And who is gonna check to see if someone has a built shortblock and ported heads? In other series if anyone wants to protest someones combo they first have to come up with $500 to get the person to do a teardown. Do you want to put up $500 to win a trophy and a jacket?
And if tech feels if a car has a advantage can DQ it is gay because that is a judgement call. And who is to say that if someone was running a few tenths quicker than everyone else is just a better driver and tuner. The only way to prove it is doing a teardown.
But like I said when people were crying about "non street legal" cars in the SS class. The heads up rules have been basicly the same for years. Everone should use the offseason to send they're heads out for portwork and make other changes for next year.
In heads up racing there will always be people crying about the rules no matter how fair others think they are.
Again I feel there is already enough classes and watching 13 second cars race heads up is as exciting as watching paint dry. The stands will empty as fast as when the jr dragsters come up to the line.At least with the stk. class now there are some low 12 and high 11 second cars to watch

I happen to like watching JR dragsters run. Speed has nothing to do with what class I watch run. If I know a person who is running a class Ill watch the class no matter what the E.T is.. Same with seeing good side by side close to the finnish racing be it 16sec 7sec etc...This thread right now has nothing to do with the other classes..So talking about them has no bearing here.. Same with what goes on,, race class wise with the roaman circuses NMRA/FFW.......Tasca IMO is not meant for people to build a spec car for..

This class we are talking about here is to get the novice a place to run heads up who has a simple bolt-on daily driver..

so what happens to the people that ran factory stock this year ?
so if my car is stock and has no A/C I have to move up a class. that is stupid !
minimum front tire size ? what advantage would a smaller tire on the front be?
some of the things allowed, shifter..hope so,timming pointer.
who made up the rules ?
can't believe you allow timming pointers and shifters but no small fronts.

this class should be called "GAY STOCK".

hey Denny....ummm do you have the factory wax codes for Eric? Since this is factory stock some may feel that a newer wax would be faster.. and by the way Tasca day years ago was the best when all of us just ran as fast as we could in the classes provided.... people just dont seem to have the set it takes to run heads up without crying anymore....

No 4Vs???? that lame man, lame. The 3V GTs will run just a stong mod for mod as a 96-01 4V.

Doesn't matter to me though i have a blower and thus can't run that class, however i thinks it's pretty stupid to make the N/A 4V guys run in Modmotor where just to be alittle competive you need a power adder

My thoughts exactly. But instead of crying some people expect them to make a new class for them so they can win. Its like dude, theses are the classes and set your car up accordingly. The rules were the same as they were last year and this year and they will most likely be the same next year. Its time to step it up or get stepped on.And if you dont like it you can run brackets untill you do. Thats were I got started before I went in the heads up classes.I never cried once , I just waited my time untill I had the car to compete.
I'm willing to bet the guy who is trying to set up those rules has a car that meets those proposed rules perfecly and would have the best setup that is legal and anything more than his mods won't be legal.Pretty gay if you ask me.Quit being a puss and step it up to run with the big boys or keep it on the trailer. The proposed rules are crapola

Novices should'nt be running in heads up classes. Thats what bracket racing is for. Anyway a novice probally would'nt stand a chance if lined up against a good veteren driver. I'd like to see a first timer beat Eric in a heads up race with equal parts. Did you know that the vast majority of pro drivers first got started in bracket racing.
If you were to tell a pro driver "theres a race at my local track but my car is'nt competitive so I want them to make a class so my car can win" He'd laugh at you and think you were are chump.
And acculally if no one wants to watch a class of racing the class wont last long.Who would want to race in a class that NO ONE cares about. Its like winning the special olympics. You won, but your still retarted. Ask nascar what would happen if no one showed up to watch a race. Or ask NHRA the same if no one showed up for one of the national events. Its the fans watching that attract the sponsors and no fans means no sponsor which means no race.

Not for nothing but Brackets are a hell of alot harder to run then Heads up..........I hepled make up the rules. If there was away around I would rather have a procomp class..Pro tree/ .1 break out.....Thats the class I have been trying to sell but it seams the powers that be and heads up orientated people wan't a novice heads up class..........

Now Quazimodo I did not fit rules for my car.....I would not even let me drive in the class.....Now if my car was to fit the class I might let you drive it thow

How do you figure a power adder has a competative edge over N/A running a pro comp class

I never said that. The fastest N/A 4v that i know of was Bob Cosbys 99 Cobra.

Low 11s at 118ish in factory stock is moving!!!! Hence why he was the champ until he sold his 99

Is Modmotor heads up or bracket??? If it's bracket then who cares because ET means **** in bracket, consistancy is what counts there

Accually in bracket racing all you need to be is consistant. On my very first time at the track all my runs were within a tenth which would do well in bracket. Anyone can do that if they do the exact same thing everytime.
