I hear alot of bitching here. This discussion is supposed to be for improving the event. I've heard that a directive came from the track to cut classes. Heads up Mustan racing is a money loser for NED. Numerous classes with low car counts are not going to cut it. It will most likely not stay staus quo so you guys saying leave it alone are not helping. I'm sure the track could add another import day

I'll be the first to admit I don't have the magic bullit that will be the solution ( I'm just a lowly bracket racer ) Quick street has done a good job of making a competive class with a good car count and people actually head to the stands when they run.

What I think Wayne is going for is a good novice class that newbies can have fun with. A combo ET bracket with all the regular NED hitters doesn't cut it either. If you want to keep it HU for novices I think it will need to run in the 13.5-14-5 zone on average.

I would still like to see Mod Motor changed to Open Comp. I'm tired of one ET class at Tasca day and would like to run something different. I've already run some HU stuff years ago and it was ok but the car would not be competative in the class I could run as it sits and I am not building a car for one event a year.

Thanks for your reply.............
People keep this going,,,,,,,, remember people these are proposed rules.......They are not the fineshed product.....I need as much input from people who would like to run a class like this as we can get.......

Yea, the unfair advantage is wicked GAY. If a car only has the legal parts on it, how can it have an unfair advantage?
No car is exactly alike so there will alway be cars that seem to run faster than others even though they have the same performance mods. Then you got different driving abilities so what are they going to DQ someone for being a superior driver?
What if someone currently has a car with all of the legal parts and is just above minimum weight and DR's( I think they are legal Dr's are'nt cheater slicks) decides they want to get serious about winning the class and go to the track every weekend to practice and by the time Sept. rolls around they got the car dialed in perfectly and are running some great times and when they line up against a newbie thay spank them bad. So what are they going to tell the guy. I'm sorry, but after all your hard work to try to do good made you too good so your now disqualified because this class is for ****ty drivers and slow cars only.
Are these rules being made buy serious racers who accually have a clue? Or just wanna be racers who think they have a clue but they themself never really made a effort to build a competitive heads up car themself.Because if they did they would realize how gay the unfair advantage with legal parts rule really is. Sometimes I think that class rule makers can't see past their own noses.
I'm almost tempted to sell my LS1 daily driver to get a car to make a mockery of the class instead of running in the SS class with the Saleen.
But the LS1 is too awsome to get rid of. I'd get rid of the 9 second Saleen before getting rid of my baby (LS1).

Quazimodo How many times must it be said the intent is a Novice class...
It is not meant for some anol driver to make a mockery of a class they should not of entered in the first place... Looks to me the rule proposal people are ahead of your thinking

I see maybe 2 cars in this class.
the rules should be :
Factory Stock
-limited to drivers that suck and don't go too fast
-big ass tires on the front
-little tires out back
-suck as bad as the other guy or get DQ'ed.

Everyone is bashing this class, why not try and give advice to make it a good class for novices like they are trying to create?

Their bashing meens didally for a class like this mricci..
For a simple novice class to work you have to make it as ugly as you can to the true drag racer..Sort of like the feeling you get from someone scratching their nails on a black board.......

everyones been a novice at some point, gone to the track got beat . go home buy and add more parts go faster . its a vicious circle, been that way since racing began . tasca is good enough to put this thing on,why try to change things. seemed to be a pretty good turn out this year

Wayne - it seems out of the few people who've had some constructive criticism, the A/C issue has come up repeatedly. Don't stock cars still come without A/C? If so, doesn't seem fair to eliminate someone for not having it when the car never had it to begin with.

Only v8 cars that I know of that came with out A/C are a very few notchbacks...If a car did not come with A/C 99% sure The car could run the class "IF" everything else fits the class....... Tech always has the discretion of what goes and what does not go....They could let a car run and add weight if like one part of the car does not fit the rules....The A/C deal is not a problem with your typical street car.........

For instance Steve, say that wording is taking out and you let every car pull the A/C....Is your typical Street guy going to pull the A/C? Or is your typical Darg/street car going to pull the A/C?

Now lets say we pull the front tire rule which I have a feeling is going to get pulled (But im trying my hardest to keep it)

OK now if them 2 rules are pulled now you have a drag orientated guy look at the rules...What type of car would this person have in the class?

Most likaly a notchback with no A/C
90/10 drag shocks up front and back (Since now the wording lets them)
Light wheels with 275/50/15 Mt Drs out back and 165/15 wheels up front...
NO swaybars (This wording is not in the rules)
Drag type Springs (Again no wording to keep them out)
Full Bolt-ons and Intake.......

Now the car above might have to add a few pounds..But were are they putting all that extra weight??? In the trunk? What will the weight transfer be like with skinneys, dragsprings,No swaybars and the weight in the back? No wording for keeping the battery up front either (We have to keep the rules simple)
How would this car hook? That car will hook a heck of alot better then the Intent for the cars your trying to fit the class for...
We diddn't even get into the other crap not in rules like seats lift off hoods etc..Not of that is in the rules...

Now one would look to be filling this class with your everyday street bolt-on car... My thought on a everyday bolt-on car (Majarity of class) would be a 99/04 Mustang GT Not a fully bolt-on (Mods cost money so dont car payments) High powered radio and 17/18 bling bling rims.. Thats your typical car that would be running this class, In years to come the newer 05 style model will become the majarity Im willing to bet a few show up in 2006...05s would be out for about a year 1/2 by then........

The way I look at it if skinneys No a/c and other things fly there will be posibly 3 fast cars picking off the rest of the feild......That will not get the class filled in 2007...
