taurus fan install

what do you guys use to mount the taurus fans onto the radiator?

I used those electric fan zip clips.Grabbed a bag at Autozone,good to go.Not "zip tis",the clips are made for electric fans.Worked with my Taurus fan.

I made aluminum tabs and used larger aluminum pop rivets bent the tabs over and they hang on the top lip of the rad. and attached them to the top of the shroud. then took a small piece of metal and bent the end over and drilled a hole in the other end and mount that on the lower core support the bent end just hangs over the edge of the fan hole and it holds everything real tight and is on/off in 2 min.s

DON,T USE THOSE STUPID ZIP TIES YOU WILL RUB A HOLE IN THE RAD. AND HAVE TO REPLACE IT, ASK ME HOW I KNOW. DO IT THE RIGHT WAY AND MAKE SOME BRACKETS OUT OF ALUM. YOU CAN GET IT CHEAP AT HOME DEPOT OR LOWES. I USED A VICE TO BEND THE FLAT BAR ALUM. TO WHAT I NEEDED. TOOK ABOUT AN HOUR ON A SAT. AFTERNOON. IF YOU WANT SOME PICS I WILL SEND THEM LET ME KNOW.

Thats why they come with those little foam pads that protect the radiator core.

When the fan motor loads up (initially starts spinning), it tries to spin the fan housing/shroud itself. This puts stress on the radiator which padded or non-padded ties will not handle very well.

Have 2 cars with aftermarket fans on them. Been there for over 10 years.. Yes its better to have a metal bracket to hold the fan but the radiator zip ties work as long as they are tight. Not snug but very tight.

here's one of the top I will get the lower tomorrow its to cold to climb under that thing tonight. Some one asked how we/I wired them up I run mine on a 40amp circuit breaker and a 40 amp relay.. I also made plates that go under the shroud also so the rivets don't pull through

The nylon ties work fine...as long as they are not used to support the fan's weight. In this case, the weight of the fan will pull down on the ties causing them to pull and drag on the radiators cores. Over time, the cores will leak.

I hard mounted my fan to the bottom of the radiator using brackets. At the top I used two of the nylon ties. Been that way for 8 years (daily driven) with no problems.

i just got some light sheet metal an cut it into 2" wide strips. i bolted 2 strips into the top of the taurus fan shroud an two into the bottom an hand formed them to wrap over the radiator an bolted them to the core support. it looks stock to the non mustang crowd.

got another question regarding the taurus fan install, I'm about to order a DCC controller and dont know which controller i need, the FK60 or the FK35? Whats the amperage draw of these fans?

FK-35 will be fine.

Good choice on controllers. I couldn't be happier with mine.

Brian used to recommend the '35 for the 3.8L fan. He now has a FK-50, so I'd ask when you send the inquiry email.
