Taurus Fan

all i know is that fan pulls some stupid CFM numbers. I have one on my car with the stock alternator and although the volt meter drops like a rock when i flip the switch i've seen no other negative effects

You really should do a 3G Conversion with an E-Fan, the 2Gs had a TSB out on catching fire and that is in Stock Form!

That's a huge rumor that the Taurus and Mark VIII's spike 90-110 amps on startup. Both of them spike 50amps at the most.

Well i won't disagree, but i think he tested it...he's an electrician so i don't think he would've guessed. I'll double check maybe i've got my numbers wrong. I just know he told me i needed this 80 amp fuse that i've got for mine.

this is high speed? do you have low speed #'s as well?

That's using a variable speed controller - varying the voltage to increase and decrease fan speed. So essentially high speed for the Taurus fan would be 3300CFM @ 33amps, and low speed would be in the neighborhood of 2800CFM @ 16amps.

Mark VIII on high would be 4300CFM @ 28amps, and low around 3500CFM @ 15amps.

Those numbers and graphs are from Brian Baskins website (when it was up).

thanks this should serve as very useful information...i guess i better use the 40 amp relay instead of the 30 then...thanks again

i remember seeing pics of someone who mounted their fan upside down and reused the factory overflow bottle....does anyone know who that was or where i may find the pics? i was unsuccessful with the search...thanks

jim

I know what you're talking about, they mounted the fan inside the stock fan shroud to keep the overflow....Assuming he trimmed the outside of the fan to make it fit in there but maybe not.

Yeah, I did that, but I don't think you could flip the fan upside down cause there is only room on the one side, of course it really doesn't matter which side is up and which is down.

Wasn't too hard to do, just ground down those fin things and use the factory j-nuts and bolts and some washers.
