I'm not knocking your opinion, but I've done it, and I know you really can't do what you are saying is possible...

Good pics. They also show a strand of wire on each side of the ceramic (?). This is where you can run into problems. Any elongation of this wire can throw off the readings. They work by measuring the cooling effects of air over the wire surface. Strechting the wire will increase the surface area. Also it is very easy to damage the joint between the posts and the wire. Even a small crack in the solder/joint will change the resistance characteristics. If you can make Q-tips work, then more power to you. I can't argue with effectiveness. But, I will not recommend this to anyone as the cost of an entire bottle of cleaner is miniscule compared to the cost of a new sensor. My point is that the risk is too high for my liking. Especially with such a sensitive sensor.
