TB or Pulleys

i was just curious what to do next a 70mm TB or set of UD pullys

i have a coldair kit and xpipe and muffs and a programmer so the TB would see some benifit right?

and pullys free up a few ponys i heard .

just kinda curious as to which would be the better gain

You will get more gain with the UDP's, you wont get much gain going from 65mm to 70mm while you are NA

a tb alone isn't worth it. you'd need a decent air intake and a plenum to see any decent gains

I Gotcha so UDp it is , one more thing the Steeda's worth the price increase over the BBK's? or is it the name thing you paying for?

I would also go with UDP pullies first (I recommend Steeda) and then save up for a nice TB and plenum combo later!

I hate to see people get misinformed so some one who knows what they're talking jump in here.

It used to be changing the pulleys would help pick up a number of ponies by turning things slower (ok, if you're not caught in rush hour stop-n-go). But, Ford changed the pulleys, I think starting with the 2000 models, turning things slower right out of the factory. There's just not that much to be gained as there used to be.

save the money, neither are worth it. get some gears, shifter or something that is going to make a difference.

Don't waste your time with the BBK pullies, they are garbage, Go with the Steeda pullies with the SFI balancer, they should free up more than just the TB, the TB will give you about 1 hp by itself, but the CAI, TB and Plenumn will make it worthwhile

Pullies represent a great risk to your engine in multiple ways. Just say NO to pullies... Not worth it.

Things to consider

* The vehicle is engineered to work from the AZ desert to sub zero temps in the northern states. Perhaps you are able to slow your water pump and alternator down with out a problem. Just remember that the entire cooling system was engineered on how much heat your engine makes, how much HP it produces.

* If you start adding power modifiers AND under drive the accessories, this may be a recipe for problems later.

* If you find your self mainly making a lot of short trips and idling for extended a period of time, then under driving your alternator may be a problem later also.

4.6L 4V Pulley Instructions
Some 1996-2001 Mustang owners, for engine performance purposes, are adding a special front drive pulley kit to reduce front accessory drive speeds. When removing and replacing the crank pulley, if the large bolt used to hold the crank pulley undertorqued, the keyway will shear and cause major engine damage. The resulting engine damage is not warrantable. If the crankshaft pulley bolt is removed it should be replaced as it is a torque to yield bolt. The installation of the crankshaft pulley requires that a specific torque operation be adhered to. The crankshaft pulley bolt must be installed using these 4 steps: 1) Torque to 75 lbs/ft 2) Back out one turn 3) torque to 45 lb?ft 4) continue to tighten and additional 90 degrees.

4v pulley.. so that only effected mach 1's and cobras?

what would one consider a "short trip"

Yes it says 4V BUT installing pullies is not all that simple and the crank pulley has special torqueing procedure for any model. Plus the modular engines do not benefit that much from the mod. I would never put pullies on my car is all I am saying. I do not recommend it...

Yeah, WOW this would be a tricky procedure, IF you were someone who has never been introduced to a wrench before!!!!!!!
