Just wondering what power steering fluid people recommend to run with TCP rack. TCP says a clear mineral based fluid. All I have found is Synthetic or ATF, and they specifically state to not use ATF.

I saw some non synthetic "Power Steering Fluid" at the parts storebut it did not state if it was mineral based or not. Is a non-synthetic "Power Steering Fluid" usually mineral based and would it be ok to use in the TCP rack?

The TCP rack requires petroleum based power steering fluid. This is just the cheap stuff and is usually clear. Synthetic and newer ATF fluids contain detergents that will deteriorate the rack's internal seals.

hey Lino, would god old type F work ok. i'm asking because i have one of you guys' racks in the garage waiting to go in the cougar and i'll be using the stock ford pump with a heidts adjustable pressure regulator and the ford pump calls for type f fluid. here is the heidts valve i'll be using

anyway, since the type f doesn't have the detergents the newer fluids have will it work ok?
