Teardrop Hood

My Shelby style front valance is on and I'm very pleased with the Branda product and the final fit.
Next project is the hood. I had planned on buying a Crites fiberglass teardrop hood. I've heard and read good things about their quality and fit.
I note that Mustangs Plus also do fiberglass teardrop hood. Has anyone ever bought one of these or knows anything about the quality of the product?
Does anyone know of anyone else who produces a good quality fiberglass teardrop hood for the '65.

Maier Racing makes the stuff that Mustangs Plus sells.

Year One has a carbon fiber one for about $500 that's cool.

Does anyone know if the Maier Racing fiberglass hoods which Mustangs Plus sells are any good?

What about the fiberglass hoods from Mustang Depot of Las Vegas?

Alternatively would anyone recommend glassing a fiberglass teardrop hood onto my existing steel stock hood? I would want to make it functional. It would certainly be cheaper........

I bought my '67 Shelby hood and nose from Mustangs Plus. I'm pretty sure it would fit my Mazda pickup about as well as it fit my Mustang, it was that bad. I know some people have posted on here with good results on Maier 'glass, but I suspect they just have lower standards. Like it says in the Mustangs Plus catalog, it CAN be made to work and fit to show-quality standards. Of course, given enough time and money, the Titanic could be raised and repaired, but do you want to spend the effort when there are better alternatives?

Its an original hood with a steel inner panel , Top quality, made from the same company that did fiberglass for Shelby way back when.
check it out. and if anyones local and would like to see it in person, he lives near Pomona CA.

I'll admit up front that this was not with body parts, but I'd be reluctant to get Crites stuff. My old man got some headers that were supposed to fit a '57 Ford with an FE, but didn't even come close. He also got a clutch linkage pivot for the block that mounted about 2" too high......for stock mounts.

We like to call it Cripes now.

I really want a deck and non-turn signal hood for my '68, but I just don't know who makes decent fiberglass body parts. Makes me tempted to build my own.

I bought my Shelby roof scoops from Mustangs Unlimited and was very happy with the fit and quality. I don't know if they're offering a teardrop hoop like you want, but you could call and ask who their fiberglass supplier is and see if you could contact them directly for a hood. BTW, I think the teardrop hood looks outstanding and fits the body style of early Mustangs better then the cookie-cutter Z-28 cowl hoods everyone is slapping on their cars. Good Choice!

I Don't think that Mustangs Unlimited do a teardrop hood. There isn't one in the catalogue. I'm going to keep looking for a few days. If anyone can come up with any alternatives to Crites and Mustang Depot of Las Vegas let me know.
