Technical T5 Question..Need answer quick

As most of you know i blew 3rd gear in my T5 a week ago and am trying to get it back together. Heres my question...I have a 89 T5...whe ones rated for 265ft/lbs but i have obtained a 91 t5 (300 ft/lbs) the cluster gear has two more teeth on the 3rd gear cog as well as one more on the 3rd gear itself. Therefore i am putting the cluster gear and the 3rd gear from the 91 tranny into my 89. My question is do i have to switch out the 2nd gear as well even tho the tooth count is the same? I understand that they upgraded the 2nd, 3rd, and cluster in the newer trannies. thanks

Well, im not sure if you have to but it might be a good idea to do it anyway...especially if it is less worn than yours.
