I believe you can simply install a T fitting on the thermostat housing where you currently have one sensor. This way you don't have to drill holes anywhere.

The "T" fitting may cause you to read abnormal temps. I'd tap for the sensor in it's regular place. If you don't have the intake in the car yet you can take it to an auto shop and have them tap it. If not then it isn't too hard to do but you need a 3/8 NPT tap and they are hard to find. I looked all over for one until I gave up and went to get one from a friend who has a shop. Lukily he had one laying around. You can also order one here...

I put mine in the block. There is already a hole for it on the drivers side.

Why would anyone need a second intake air temp sensor?

The hole is tapped remove the plug with an 18mm socket and replace with the 3/8 adapter and sending unit. Use teflon tape on all threads.

We're talking about adding a second water temp sending unit for aftermarket gauges.

If you have a 96 like me you can't get to the one in the block. It is behind the motor mount.
