Yeah but when is the last time you lost an 8mm socket? I honestly don't remember the size of the socket (it was a smaller one) but I lost it and found it a few years later when I pulled the motor. I think I can honestly say that it the only one I have found that I have lost and there have been a handful over the years.

I'd rather buy American than Chinese junk, and pay the difference.

I buy American when there is that option. I also make my living using hand and power tools, and choose a superior product, which Snap-On is. China Harbor Freight copies everything they do, and have stated as such.

I realize that most electronics are made there. Taiwan is an option too, and at least they aren't commie China. The less we buy from communist countries, the less money thay have, and the less power they have. Its an easy decision, and every American should do what they can to diminish communism/socialism.

You better make damn sure that company isn't importing from china first because that's the new norm, even snap on, on certain tools.... The old you get what you pay went out the window when bean counters and mba's started bleeding everything for profit first..

If I'm buying import stuff I'm getting it the cheapest way possible and cutting out as many companies branding it as i can, until the stop profiting from it they won't change. middle men marking it up 2-4 times what they paid half the time just changing the logo and branding if, Filling out an order isn't a service I'm willing to over pay for, you would be shocked how much claimed made in USA stuff is just slapped together here or " finished" machined here. There cnc work can be on par or better than alot of ours, and the cost is well below what the investors demand as a return here.

If you want to stop losing sockets, or anything else for that matter. Pay a ton of money on them. You damn well will keep better care of them.
I probably have lost a grand total of two 10mm sockets in 45 years of wrenching. How? I buy the Snap On sockets. They cost a bunch, but I don't lose them.
Same with Sun Glasses. I used to buy the cheapo $10-20 dollar versions. Lost them, misplaced them all the time. I then spent $250 for a pair of Sun Glasses. After several years, I still have them. Weird...

Just make sure no family member, friends or coworker finds drugs and addiction, lost more tools to that then stuff I actually misplaced. They can sniff out easy money when they need it. They ignore the cheap hand tools.

I work in a machine shop thats been around since the 50s and we dont have A/C (most old machine shops dont) and during summer when the Snap on guy comes by we all pile up in his truck pretending we are interested just because that truck is ice cold inside! lol, when someone wants 100 dollars for a single flat head screwdriver I'm just not that interested, the shop does buy a couple of items here and there from time to time from him.

My view on tools is that if you are a casual wrencher like most of us here are any decent brand of tools will pretty much suffice however if i owned my own mechanic shop and these tools were getting a beating i would buy brand name like Snap on etc,i dont want any downtime over a stripped ratchet or a rounded off socket.

I have a fully stocked toolbox in my garage and most of my sockets are Stanley and they have worked perfectly over the years, their ratchets are crap so i spent a few extra bucks on those,most of my wrenches are ratchet wrenches made by Kobalt, man those are nice and i have never had any issues with them.

On the subject of buying American i try to adhere to that any chance i get but sometimes i cant,about a year ago i bought a portable sandblaster and i had the option between American made and Chinese and i bought American in a heartbeat, its a nice little piece and the difference wasn't that much,i haven't lost many 10 mm sockets, guess ive just been lucky.

Turns out 10, 9, 8 and 7 mm sockets are necessary for Mustangs. The 7 mm fits the air door actuator bolts on the 08 Bullitt. Dont ask why I know this.
