Ok, total speculation time here.

Let’s say you had a coyote swap going into your fox. @Hoytster

Do you suppose that new ten speed transmission from the 2018 mustang could be made to fit in a fox transmission tunnel without total replacement of the tunnel?

It sure sounds like a nice tranny. Just pondering.

It might be an ultimate quarter mile transmission is what I’m
thinking.

Yup, it will take 1K power and keep on going. Try that with the manual trans.

From what I’ve read, it keeps the engine constantly in it's power band.

Crap, 11 second bracket with a 4300lb 2018 beast.

Just thought it was interesting, seeing what people know is all.

It would definitely be fast. From what I've read, the 10r80 is very similar, if not the same dimensionally as the 6r80, which is a popular swap with the coyote in a fox. Stifflers makes a crossmember to do it. It would be a little bit trickier of a swap though as I'd imagine you'd have to find a donor engine, ecu, harness, and whatever else you need it to run (thinking PATS) from a wrecked 2018 mustang. I know of no aftermarket controller that can control the 10r80 yet.

You know if you do that you gotta go with a paddle shifter setup.

I'm a die hard clutch guy but the writing is on the wall that Automatic technology has made them obsolete to all but purists.

I don’t blame you. I’m sure most would ponder as well, given a nice enough tranny.

There might be something out there. Got to google this for awhile.

That transmission will change things a bit I think.

I wonder if when Ford releases the 2018 coyote crate engine and control packs if they might also be considering a controller for the 10r80.

Don't they sell specific control packs for manual and auto right now for the six speed?

Yep, they do for the 6r80, but they don't yet for the 10r80. To reiterate what I said above, the only option is a wrecked 2018 that you can use as a donor and all the other BS you have to deal with. I'm sure there will be a controller eventually there just isn't one now. Keep an eye on both sides as the GM 10 speed is essentially the same as the Ford 10 speed.

I heard the di coyote will be released this summer. Seems like the transmission controller should follow soon with that.
