Hey guys sorry If I posted this in the wrong forum. I test drove a 2001 cobra tonight with 38,000 miles. I would like to know what kind of known issues they have. I have herd about transmission problems. what about up keep on these cars? I can get the car for 18,990 is that a good deal? I think book on the car is 21,780 or somthing.

I paid 20,100 for mine with 23,xxx miles so sounds like an ok deal.

I like mine alot, I put it up for sale but I think its going to stay in the stable at this point and get some exhaust and eventually...pro charger.

The thing with the tranny is they are kind of notchy, so i would suggest a good shifter..I am going to get a pro 5.0 soon for mine.

I bought mine last April with about 17,000 miles for $22,000 but it was an absolute cherry. The only thing I'm aware of is that some of them have a pinging problem. Mine does not. Love the car. I previously had a '92 5.0 and some complain of a loss of low-end torque. I honestly don't notice it. I shifted the 5.0 at 5 grand the 4.6 staarts turning on at 5 grand. From 5 grand up it really tachs quickly.

The tranny is a Tremec 3650 and it's a little notchy. I have a Steeds Tri-Ax that makes shifting a lot smoother.

Any mods?? Suggest you take it to Autozone as they'll check for codes, if any, for free..

I bought my 01 last year for 24K it had 2k on the clock. No problems whatsoever i went over 6k on the clock this fall before i put her away for the winter.

The tranny is notchy but so are most stangs with the 3650, i just got a Tri-ax for it( yet to install). Some ping but mine doesn't, nor does my friends 01 vert. I love my 01. Compared to my 97 GT its a beast. i saw go for it!!!! you won't be dissapointed.

Besides the 4v sounds soooo good at WOT

Yea, tranny takes a little getting used to, but they can get pretty fast .

Paid $22k for an 01 Vert with 6k miles last November, it was perfect. No issues, no pinging, a Pro 5.0 shifter was an incredible improvement over the stock shifter.

I just traded in my '01 'vert. It was a great car, whoever gets it from the dealer will be getting a nice ride.

i bought mine for 25k with about 24K miles. The tranny was a little weird to get used to but i dont complain anymore with my B&M shifter. Do some mods and you wont be sorry!! You'll like it

Kool Thanks Guys. I did notice the notchy feel of the trans. This will be my second mustang when I was 17 I had an 92 lx 5.0.

I love my 01, Trans seems to be pretty strong...have not broke it yet.

Mind if I ask what they gave you trade value wise for that 04 Mytic Chrome? I looked into those and the Zo6 but the chevy place was way low on my trades, at least what I wanted and I have no pressure right now so I walked.

I bought my ’01 last March for $23,000 with 21,000 miles. It was bone stock, and that last for two weeks then I installed a TriAx shifter.

They gave me 21K, that was 2K higher than the trade in value on KBB.
I also got the '04 for almost 2K under sticker. The deal was worth it to me to give up my '01 for the MystiChrome.

Just stay firm on what you want, as long as you are not unrealistic, & they will come around if they want to sell the car bad enough. My deal took a couple of trips, but buying 3 new vehicles in 2 1/2 years probably helped some also.

about $17,350 according to KBB value (in my zip code, anyway).
That assumes your car is in "excellent" condition.
