Test drove a white 96 cobra vert with a brown top and tan leather yesterday. god that car was sweet. it was all stock except for the white 18 inch rims. 71k miles. We ran a Carfax and maintaince is perfect but it had been wrecked once. They are asking $11k. Is this is a good price?? The only complaint i had for this car was the shifter- but then again i have a mgw in my 5.0

That seems pretty high for a car that's been wrecked once...

Kelly Blue book lists a 96 Cobra convertible in Good condition for $8985

I don't put too much faith in blue books, but 11k sounds pricey to me too. I guess it depends on how "wrecked". You should get a coupe anyway.

yea we figured that it was probably worth about 9k. i know that 96 was the first year of the 4.6 and the 96-98 cobra blocks are tough but besides that, im in left field about this car. does it have forged internals? how strong is the tranny and what kind of gear does it come factory with?

No forged internals, the block and crank are stout pieces but the rods and pistons are the weak link. The t45 trans is just a little stronger than a t5, stock gears are 3.27s. You could put a blower on the car and make in the 430rwhp range and be just fine with the stock trans and longblock. If you drag race the car a lot though you may start breaking things.

I would say don't bother if they really want $11,000 for it. Even if the car does have low mileage (not that 70,000 is really that low) it's still not worth $11,000. I just bought a '94 white Cobra with a 5-speed and black leather interior for $7000. The car is in perfect shape with 100,000 miles.

Dude, if you have $11,000 in spare change lyin aroud, go pick up a 01 or 02 GT and throw some nice rims and exhaust on it. You'll be just as happy.

yea, 11k is too much but there is no advantage to picking up a 01 gt over this cobra vert with nice rims other than the lower mileage on the gt. the previous owner was a woman(i believe) so my choice would definitely have to be the cobra-ANYDAY
