You should be able to do a burnout without line lock....even if you are bigfoot. I only use one foot to do a burnout. place the middle left portion of your right foot on the break. Now just practice using the outside portion of your right foot to control the gas pedal. Then just operate the clutch normally with your left foot.

Some people put their right heel on the brake and use their toes to feather the gas...either works and burnout will come easy.

I usually rev to about 3-3.5k rpm and dump the clutch and give it a little gas. 2nd gear burnouts should be pretty easy with those 3.73's. let em go till you start to see smoke at the window and ride it out. Launch it like you stole it.

I do heel/toe burnouts also. I think you would be surprised if you tried it, just how big of a foot can accomplish them.

ive tried it before, and at the track last night..not good.....when i pop the clutch and step on the brake, as i press on the brake pedal, the pedal pushes my right foot all the way to the floor, causing my rpm,s to go way up....but problen solved, i bought line lock. im gonna post that in tech

Stock tach is probably wrong on his car. Mine reads 1000 RPM high in the upper RPMs.

Nonsense. Bfg's work great. My buddy's fox is 475 to the ground and dead hooks at 5500 dumps, even on the street with good prep and tire pressure. It was even bogging a little at this, so it's probably going to be rev limiter launches next time around. They hook WAY better on the street than his ET streets did, and that's with 200rwhp more than when the ET Streets were on the car. They've also lasted twice as long so far, with a lot more abuse, and still look mint.
I think part of your traction problem is that they're 17s. What air pressure are you running? Get some VHT and put that on the tires in the parking lot before you run. You should be able to work down into the 1.9s or 1.8s no problem with some better prep and driving.

Check your tach like said above for 1. My msd window switch shows consistently 500rpm below my dash tach. Are you running stock ignition? You are prob cheating your powerband and are STILL trapping 100mph which is at least a high 13. Get you launch down, maybe work on suspension a little and get those 60's down and run mid-high 13's all day

My car probably isn't turning 5000 through the traps, same gears as you, only Im running through at 106+... Realy short sidewall tire? That tach could be off also? My dads autometer was off a few hundred RPM actually.

i say TO HELL with all this feathering the gas and slipping the clutch on street tires.

get slicks, heat them up a dump the clutch at 6k and hook and the car will run alot faster.

that car definately has alot more left in it....you just didn't get a good pass pass. I had 16" bfg dr's when I ran the time in sig and I too have a stock motor and stock (worn) suspension at that minus the eibach sportlines. I am by no means a good driver, don't get all down on the car just go out there and try again.....i think I ran mine at about 14-15 psi and heated them up until i see smoke coming from the side view mirror...actually launched at 2500 on that pass for some reason, but usually launch at 4k and just let go of the clutch quickly, don't dump it. good luck to ya next outting.

You launched at 5K???? WOW! No need for that unless you have the tires and suspension for it. I launched my 96 Cobra at idle and ran 12.50's @114-116MPH wit ha 1.8 60 footer. Even my 97 Cobra ran a 13.90@102MPH with launching at idle with a 2.0 60 footer.

ou really need to get your 60ft to about 1.8-20. Make that your next goal.

I did that a few Thursdays ago and shattered the axles, and bent the carrier to the point it took us over an hour of prying to get it out, not to mention 2 hours to clean the inside of the rear.

But I would do it again if I had slicks still .

Too bad I didn't upgrade yet, tossed a set of the same axles in, and another stock carrier... No point in upgrading yet but I will.

Try launching at 3-3500rpm and slip the clutch as your rolling in the throttle. I can cut 1.9x's-2.0s all day on cheap street tires doing that on a not so sticky track with stock suspension. You'll just have to get the feel of how much throttle and clutch slip to give it.

Exactly...i feel like i have much better luck when i launch at 3-3.5k on street tires too. I feel like when i launch off idle, its harder to control the wheelspin. Try launching from 3k and managing the wheelspin. You want a small amount of wheelspin to keep the revs up. I cut 2.0-2.1 short times with stock 225mm tires and lowered suspension with 3.73's. You should be able to get there too with a little practice.

I launch off idle... mid 1.9 60's all day. If I give it 1500-2000 RPM I run 2.0 60's. Lowered suspension, 18" radials.

The track and the car will dictate how to launch it.
